US M12 155mm Gun Motor Carriage

Artitec 387.78. Hand Painted / Assembled, 1/87 Scale Model.

 The M12 155 mm Gun Motor Carriage was a 26-ton self-propelled artillery vehicle that mounted a 155mm, M1917, M1917A1 or M1918 M1, depending on which gun was available at the time, on a Lee/Sherman tank chassis. The large gun took up much of the space of the rear of the vehicle, leaving room for only 10 shells. Another Lee/Sherman conversion, the M30 Cargo Carrier, operated with the M12 and could carry an additional 40 shells. When firing, a rear-mounted earth spade was deployed to absorb the gun’s recoil.
